Ipswich Art Gallery is located in the restored old town hall in the heart of Ipswich Central, just 40 kilometres west of Brisbane. The Gallery presents a program of changing exhibitions and heritage displays, special events, family activities, complementary performances and art workshops. It is one of the most-visited regional art galleries in Australia.
As an initiative of the Ipswich City Council and in partnership with the Ipswich Arts Foundation, the Ipswich Art Gallery fulfils its mission ‘to exhibit, collect, conserve, research and interpret culturally and regionally significant materials for the benefit of the people of Ipswich’. Presents both collected and visiting works.
Entry to our permanent and long-term exhibitions is free. A small fee may be charged for some of our temporary shows.
The gallery has a dedicated Children's Gallery. We are a wheelchair and pram-friendly venue with a large internal lift. Our friendly volunteers will help you to find your way around, and to bring your visit alive.
The Ipswich Art Gallery offers guided group tours of the permanent and temporary exhibitions. They last about an hour but we suggest you allow a couple of hours to really enjoy the Gallery.
